Position:                    Program & Development Officer

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for a broad and creative set of assignments. The position will involve working closely with the organization's development team and chief operating officer, providing support for all activities, including writing and researching, fundraising efforts, managing donors and processing donations, drafting and editing grant proposals, creating program budgets, maintaining financial records in Quickbooks, and assisting with general administrative tasks.

The candidate will assist in developing and executing the Oslo Freedom Forum, an international human rights conference produced annually by Human Rights Foundation (HRF) and hosted in Norway. Responsibilities include program development (researching speakers and topics, creating agenda), speaker outreach, arranging logistics (air travel, accommodation, etc.), handling email communication, mediating between speakers and creative director to craft presentations, and coordinating speakers on-site at the event.

The position will entail acting on behalf of the organization in a manner that reflects the group's mission, goals, and values. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible, energetic, and tolerant, with a commitment to civil liberties and individual rights and an ability to work well under pressure. A sense of humor is imperative. A high level of discretion, tact, and sound judgment are also requirements. This is an ideal position for someone who would like to learn all facets of the nonprofit world while serving the cause of freedom and human rights.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in International Relations, History, Political Science, Communications, English, or related field
• Strong research and communication abilities
• Independent, organized, dynamic, creative, energetic, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure
• Dedicated interest in and passion for the organization's mission
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with QuickBooks is beneficial but not required
• Knowledge of multiple languages—especially Spanish—is beneficial but not required Application
